Description:
Figure TS.30 legend: Left: benefits of mitigation from avoided impacts. Middle: sustainability co-benefits and trade-offs of narrow mitigation policies (averaged over multiple models). Right: sustainability co-benefits and trade-offs of mitigation policies integrating sustainable development goals. Scale: 0% means no change compared to 3°C (left) or current policies (middle and right). Green values correspond to proportional improvements, red values to proportional worsening. Note: only the left panel considers climate impacts on sustainable development; the middle and right panels do not. “Res’ C&P” stands for Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12). {Figure 3.39}

Data Processing and/or treatment: For each variable / indicator, the percentage
changes between the 1.5 °C scenario and the baseline scenario are used. • For
the panel (a) on avoided climate impacts, the baseline is the 3.0 °C scenario •
For the panels (b & c) on narrow mitigation and sustainable development
policies, equivalent “Current Policies” scenarios are used. Panel a on avoided
climate impacts (Byers et al. 2018): The panel shows data from Byers et al.,
2018 • Change in exposure comparing the 3 °C scenario to the 1.5 °C scenario for
selected variables • W1: Water Stress index • W2: Groundwater stress • E3:
Cooling degree days • E2: Heat stress • E4: Hydroclimate risk to power plants •
L1: Crop yield change • L3: Habitat degradation • L4: Nitrate leaching Panel b
on narrow mitigation policies (Krey et al. ): The panel data is available in the
AR6 Scenarios Database, corresponding to the following scenarios: • Current
policies: CD-LINKS_Npi • SusDev scenario: CD-LINKS_NPi2020_400 Depending on the
variable, data from multiple different models is used: AIM/CGE 2.1, DNE21+
V1.4C, GEM-E3 V1, IMAGE 3.0.1, MESSAGEix-GLOBIOM 1.0, REMIND-MAgPIE 1.7-3.0,
WITCH-GLOBIOM 4.4, POLES CD-LINKS, COPPE-COFFEE 1.0. For exact model-scenarios
used for each variable, see the source data sheets. The values shown in the
thick bars are the average for all models reporting data for that variable. The
error bar whiskers are the min-max of the model range. Variables: •
